| Petition | We, the signatories of this petition:
- Express our support for,
- The development of the open lot (Block: 2039 Lots: 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 52, 54) West of the Colonial Park Post Office, located at 99 Macombs Place between West 153rd and 154th Streets, for a brand new building and improved services for the Macomb’s Bridge Branch Library along with a multipurpose building that provides activities such as gyms, swimming pools, basketball courts, and auditoriums, etc. for the community (primarily the youth)
- Community involvement with the New York Public Library and (any significant others) from the beginning to the end of the process in:
- Determining the location of any alternative site that satisfies the development of the project indicated in Section 1a of this petition
- Determining who will build the site
- Determining who will provide supplies and materials for the site and,
- Determining what services will be provided by the entities that occupy the site
- Do not want a new Macomb’s Bridge Branch Library to be placed:
- In an old warehouse that smells like a damp basement with potential moisture and health problems
- In a building located next to a business that creates engine exhaust given the high incidence of asthma in the youth and the rest of the community in Harlem
- On a commercial street with active traffic going through the street and in and out of business establishments. This scenario essentially ensures deadly accidents that would affect the community at large, particularly, the youth and the elderly.
