Bloomberg's Vague Blueprint - Response In this Op-Ed Julius Tajiddin responds to an interview of Mayor Michael Bloomberg by the Amsterdam News (located in the Village of Harlem in New York City). Tajiddin covers Charter Schools, Residency Requirements and Police Relationships in predominantly Black and minority areas of New York City. Tajiddin's reponse regarding Police Relationships is very timely given the recent news stories about Reverend Calvin Butts' experience with the local Police.Bloomberg's Vague Blueprint - ResponseOr(Bloomberg Talks a Good Game...)            When I read that Bloomberg stated in his interview with the Amsterdam News, “Charter schools are the private schools for the minority community,” I said to myself, “How dare he.” Who says? However, I’ll agree with him to this extent. Many people in the Black and Latino community believe that a charter school is some sort of private school. That’s because many people are uninformed of what a charter school is all about and the process for enrollment as it sometimes is, is by lottery. So people have a false perception of what a charter school is. Those who know are not convinced that a charter school is any better than a regular public school.? Read more...

What is a Charter School? Most people really don’t know. Many think that a charter school is some sort of private school. However, the general public perception of a Charter School is: If your child is selected to be in one he/she is going to get a better education than in a regular Public School.? Read more...

Wish List BubbleWhat features would the community like to see in a new Macombs Bridge Branch Library building and a multi-use facility primarily for the youth?Ahhhhhhh!  Just the thought of it, more space, more staff, more support and a place for the youth and the rest of the community to utilize for basketball, swimming, dance, activities for community elders and a meeting place, etc.  Just thinking about the possibility and the potential of a new library and multi-use facility for this community, kinda puts a smile on one's face. Smile

Community!   What type of services, books and technology would you, the Patrons using a new Macombs Bridge Branch Libary, want to see in a new and spacious Macombs Bridge Branch Library?   What type of sports areas (like a basketball court, swimming pool, etc.), meeting rooms, games and activities would you, the Participants want to see in brand new multi-use facility for the community?

Share your wishes with the rest of the "Hood".  Smile Laughing

Custompromgowns and Millybridal were beautiful and really well made. They custom made the quinceanera dresses and wedding gowns dresses to fit me so i didn't need any fittings. They changed some of the lace detail of the bridesmaid dresses and evening dresses even cocktail dress to reflect the style i saw on another dress at no additional cost. They were really quick to answer any of my questions and very quick about making my dress.
