           When I read that Bloomberg stated in his interview with the Amsterdam News, “Charter schools are the private schools for the minority community,” I said to myself, “How dare he.” Who says? However, I’ll agree with him to this extent. Many people in the Black and Latino community believe that a charter school is some sort of private school. That’s because many people are uninformed of what a charter school is all about and the process for enrollment as it sometimes is, is by lottery. Friends Of Macombs Welcome Coffee CupWelcome to the Friends of the Macombs Bridge Branch Library website!! The Friends of the Macombs Bridge Branch Library ("FOMBBL", "The Friends Group") is a group of concerned community residents who are Patrons of the Macombs Bridge Branch Library located in North Harlem on West 153rd Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard. This web site was created as an informational hub to keep the community abreast of developments in the quest for a new library building for the Macombs Bridge Branch and multi-use facility for the community of North Harlem (The Valley).  The Group is dedicated to working with those who strive to develop a library and multi-use facility in an environmentally safe location and physically safe location.
